Social Network Fatigue?

I’ve posted previously about feeling tired by the demands of several social networking sites, several email addresses, and internet id schizophrenia.

It’s the same debate about whether target markets care about their online personas enough to want to keep track of them all, or whether they really don’t mind re-entering details 20 times, and losing accounts etc.

Personally i don’t think you can group together the entire net generation in that way. There will always be people who leave their credit card receipts laying around, or have five different places to store contact details. And there will always be people who shred everything, and have everything organised.

Personally I tend to aim for the latter, and end up with the former. But a cohesive log in, contact list etc, would mean I’m one step closer to the latter. And it wouldn’t alienate the less organised users either. It seems a little counter-intuitive to deny progress because one group claims they don’t particularly want to use something….when in all likelihood, if it becomes available, they won’t have any reason not to jump on board.

If someone can let me do everything from check my emails from 3 or 4 different pseudonyms, upload photos and video, blog, manage a few different social networking sites for a few different purposes, and all with just one or two secure usernames and passwords, I’ll be a happy man.
